Computed tomography CT

Computertomographie (CT)

Computed tomography is a cutting-imaging process that generates a three-dimensional image through the computer-based evaluation of a multitude of x-ray images of an object taken from different directions.

Computed tomography has traditionally been a diagnostic method and is increasingly used in therapies as an imaging modality. Computed tomography makes it possible to visualize changes in the body for the purpose of diagnostics as well as the needles, drainage and instruments - making them safe and precise to place in the body.

The principle of imaging is based on normal X-ray examinations, with the difference that in CT, the X-ray source rotates around the patient's body at high speed and thus the images are generated. Due to different permeability of different body tissues for X-rays different contrasts are created, which are detected by the computer. The denser a tissue, the worse it lets the rays through. For example, one can distinguish bones, air (in the lungs), water retention in the body and soft tissue: they appear in different shades of gray. In a normal x-ray, the shadows of different tissues superimposed, which are located behind each other in the beam path and are therefore mapped together on one point of the film. In our practice, the "Somatom Emotion 16" is one of the world's most modern, high-performance and most frequently installed computer tomographs available. With a depth of 68.4 cm and a large opening, it is particularly suitable for the diagnosis of claustrophobia and obese patients.

With the "Somatom Emotion 16" we have one of the most sophisticated development and innovation of the company Siemens-medical available, in addition to the excellent examination of the spine, joints, abdomen, pelvis or skull and complex whole body and vessel examinations within a very short time with the highest possible Image quality and very low radiation exposure allows.

At the same time we have a modern tomograph available for interventional pain therapy.

The tomograph offers a high level of comfort when storing patients in the stomach or supine position. Through an interior monitor, the doctor can constantly monitor and control the treatment field. Thanks to the multi-line technology, the cannulas and instruments can be detected in a much shorter time and avoid some additional recordings.
