Magnetresonance Imaging MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging technique that is used primarily in medical diagnostics to represent the structure and function of tissues and organs in the body. The MRI can be used to create sectional images of the human body, which allow an assessment of the organs and many pathological organ changes. The magnetic resonance tomography is based on very strong magnetic fields and electromagnetic alternating fields in the radio frequency range, with which certain nuclei are excited. Receive extremely weak electromagnetic fields that are emitted by the excited atomic nuclei. No X-rays or other ionizing radiation are generated or used in the device.

An essential basis for the image contrast are different relaxation times of different types of tissue. In addition, the different content of hydrogen atoms in different tissues also contributes to the image contrast. A damaging effect of the method is not yet known to the human body.

In our practice, the Magnetom ® Essenza is a powerful MRI scanner. The short magnet system with 145 cm depth and 1.5 Tesla magnetic strength has the IsoCenter matrix roll, which in conjunction with TIM technology provides excellent image quality with a very short examination time.

The very short examination tube is particularly suitable for people with claustrophobia, since not the whole body is in the tube and the head can usually be placed outside.

As a result, individual body regions such as the spine, joints, abdomen, pelvis, skulls and etc. can be examined.
